Cronos Airlines, one of the few regional airlines with the most punctual and safest record, has added a brand new route, Malabo – Accra and its return flight to its ever-expanding regional network. The airline is scheduled to fly between Malabo and Accra on Mondays and Fridays. The presence of the airline would make movement easier and foster relations between Ghana and Equatorial Guinea. This will also provide easy access to Sao Tome and Douala.
The new airline was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport during a short and beautiful ceremony on Friday, 28th October 2016. At a short ceremony to inaugurate the airline, Mrs. Abena Agyeman-Rebollar, Business Development Manager of Cronos, said there was usually traffic on the route because many oil and gas employees were traveling between the two countries and the difficulty in shuttling between the two countries sparked the decision to begin flights.
The airline, she said, would introduce bigger aircraft and expand when the need arose. She added that Cotonou, Port Harcourt, and Lagos were all new destinations Cronos already flew to in the sub-region.
The Equatorial Guinea ambassador to Ghana, Mr Jesus Mba Belba Abaha also graced the occasion and congratulated Cronos for initiating the flights, he said that the start of commercial flights would help strengthen the relationship between Ghana and Equatorial Guinea further.
Mr George Kaiafas, Chief Operating Officer of Cronos, said the new flight route would boost tourism and friendly relations between the two countries. He said their initiative was in line with the airline’s slogan, “linking lives across Africa by bringing families together.”
